Part-Time Business But Drives A Mercedes?

KOTA BAHARU, May 19 (Bernama) -- He is only a junior assistant but the 31-year-old man owns and drives a Mercedes Benz C200 to his workplace at Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital (HUSM) in Kubang Kerian here.

He checks in for work at 8am and leaves for home at 5pm.

His work station is only a small table at the HUSM management office, befitting his post as a junior civil servant.

But how come Afrizam Drawi@Md Arif can afford a luxury car if his take home pay is only about RM1,500 a month?

"God has given me another way of earning money. My effort and hardwork has turned me, a junior assistant, into a rich man," he told Bernama.

DIRECT SELLING

Afrizam is actually in the 'Multi-Level Marketing' (MLM) business under the MyJ Project, a project to make Malaysians millionaires.

"Initially I was not interested and tried the venture only after eight months after I was introduced to it," he said.

Afrizam said the MyJ Project was initiated by a former lecturer of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Datuk Suhaili Yusop, who is also the president of MyJ Project.

The scheme utilises Hai-O products which market was created by Hai-O Marketing chairman Tan Kai Hee.

"Hai-O Marketing is a platform for the MyJ Project which utilises Hai-O products," said Afrizam.

Hai-O Marketing is a MLM firm established more than 17 years ago and has more than 22 subsidiaries. It is the first company to be listed in Bursa Malaysia that makes MyJ Project able to market Hai-O products, said Afrizam.

THIRD CHILD

According to the third child of five siblings, he acquired 10 units of Hai-O products (nano technology bio aura water filters) at RM21,600 for sale.

"Each of these products costs RM2,080 and from that moment onwards my business venture begins and I have never looked back. I was also required to look for downliners to be transformed into entrepreneurs... and when I managed to sell off the 10 products, I got back my capital apart from the bonus received for guiding friends to be entrepreneurs like me," he said.

Afrizam said his efforts bore fruits when he managed to earn RM25,000 for the first 10 months of his venture.

SHARING SUCCESS WITH FAMILY

Now after one year of his involvement with the MyJ Project, Afrizam not only earns a handsome income but had being able to send his parents to perform the umrah pilgrimage in the Holy Land.

"After one month of joining the MyJ Project, I was given the opportunity to send my parents to perform the umrah in Mecca. Something I had thought of not being able to do in my whole life," said Afrizam who is the father of two and holds a Diploma In Electronics Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).

Despite being on the receiving end of 'nasty' remarks from people who were sceptic of the MyJ Project, Afrizam did not succumb to any of the distractions. that could have deterred him from helping the others to achieve financial success like he did .

Afrizam, who has more than 200 downliners, now earns RM15,000 a month from the MyJ Project.

UNEARHTHING ENTREPRENEURS

Afrizam said the MyJ Project which took shape some four years ago has been recognised by many and is a platform for entrepreneurs to achieve their dream.

He said many among the MyJ Project leaders have provided opportunities for the Bumiputeras in various states such as Kelantan, Perak, Kuala Lumpur, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Sabah, Sarawak and Brunei.

When contacted by Bernama, Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Dr Awang Adek Hussein said MyJ Project is among the consortiums that assist Bumiputera entrepreneurs to be successful in business.

"Particularly the youngters as they no more need to search for business opportunities. Everything is in place. What is important is to venture into an already established market.

"The entrepreneurs must work hard and give their best service. Do not be quick to be contented and there should be quality service," he said.

Dr Awang Adek said the success of a business depends on the personality of the entrepreneur apart from selling a product that the public is confident with.
